When I first saw this creature, I knew that I had to do a portrait of him. This was an animal with extraordinary features and a striking presence -- for a goat.

The rendering of the hair turned into a major project. I spent a year working on this drawing, setting down the deep shadows and building up to the highlights. The result was a portrait that showed off his personality as well as all those curls.
